My teaching philosophy focuses on preparing students for an ever-changing professional landscape by integrating academic and professional experiences to foster adaptability, creativity, and critical thinking across diverse areas of design and architecture. As a professor and researcher at Universidad de los Andes and now an Instructor at The University of Alabama, I seek to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and professional practice through methodologies that include advanced tools such as Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) and Information Modeling, with a human-centered approach by using design thinking tools and methods.
My research projects explore how AI can enhance students' creativity and perceptual capacity, as well as the impact of information technology on learning outcomes. This fosters multidisciplinary collaboration and the development of technical skills aligned with industry standards. I believe in holistic teaching that combines technical expertise with empathy, ethics, and context, promoting an innovative mindset.
My goal is to develop not only competent professionals, but also creative leaders who will transform the industry. Teaching is a responsibility that goes beyond the classroom; It's about inspiring and empowering future designers to create meaningful change in their communities and the world.
